AGNES WAECHTER

Agnes Waechter died June 17. She was born May 13, 1910 in Herbert, Sask. to Heinrich and Katharine Goertzen. At age 13 she began working for neighbours. She was baptized and joined Swift Current MB Church in August 1933. She attended Herbert Bible School. She married Ernest Waechter Oct. 15, 1950. Agnes worked hard gardening, milking and doing chores on the farm. She made all her children's clothing. She was hospitable and enjoyed company. Her cooking and baking were renowned and Christmas with family was festive. She helped in the kitchen at church and with making quilts in Ladies Aid. Ernest died in 1972. In 1975 she moved to Hodgeville, Sask. where she enjoyed visiting, caring for others, Bible studies, Scrabble, and gardening, filling her house with plants. Spending time with children and grandchildren was especially important. She moved to Heritage Towers in Swift Current, then to Heritage Manor in Herbert and in 1998 to Herbert Nursing Home. She made many friends, had a sense of humour, never complained and felt free to express her thoughts. She loved God and others. Predeceased by Ernest, 4 brothers, 6 sisters, she is mourned by son Dan, Kelstern, Sask; daughter Ruth Ohlmann, Shamrock, Sask.; 6 grandchildren; 1 brother. The funeral was June 20 in Kelstern Community Church.
