JACOB QUIRING

Jacob Quiring died June 18. He was born July 16, 1922 in Adelsheim, Yazykovo, Russia to Abram and Maria Quiring. His happy childhood ended when 1929 emigration attempts were unsuccessful and they were deported to Siberia. His preacher father died of starvation. The family was separated. During WWII he was conscripted into the German army. Wounded and expecting to die, he found peace with God. He was a prisoner of war in France. In 1948 he returned to Germany. He found his mother. They immigrated to Canada. He found a spiritual home and was baptized. He married Margaret Neumann in 1950. He farmed and built houses. He was a charter member of Central Heights and King Road churches. He served as church moderator and on the Tabor Home board. Margaret died in 1990. He married Katie Letkeman in 1992. He was generous and had boundless energy. Predeceased by Margaret, son Peter, he leaves Katie; sons Ernie, Dave; daughter Marlene; 9 grandchildren; stepchildren.
