JACOB J. KLassen

Jacob J. Klassen died Nov. 23. He was born Mar. 3, 1910 to Jacob and Helena Klassen in New York, Ukraine. He early lost his father and at 14, his mother. He came to Christ through an American evangelist's ministry in 1922. He immigrated to Canada with his stepfather in 1924. He moved to New Hamburg, Ont. He lost his job through eye problems. He remained nearly blind in the right eye and struggled in prayer to regain enough vision in the left to be employed. He was baptized in 1929, in Kitchener (Ont.) MB Church. He married Tina Dyck in 1938. He was in the dairy business 23 years. He loved the people contact. They moved to Kitchener in 1960. He worked as greenskeeper at golf courses. When retired they travelled and did volunteer service. He rededicated himself to prayer. Predeceased by Tina in 1994, son Peter and daughter Hildegard in 2001, he leaves daughter Linda, son John, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings. The funeral was November 27 in Scott St. MB Church, St. Catharines, Ont.
