Hillsboro Man Killed When Car Hits Truck

Hillsboro, Kan. — An accident on Highway 81 three miles south of Newton the evening of Jan. 21 claimed the life of Russell Hiebert, 37, of rural Hillsboro.

Officers reported that the car driven by Mr. Hiebert went under the rear of a semi-trailer as the truck slowed to make a turn. Both vehicles were traveling south. Mr. Heibert was taken to Bethel Deaconess hospital in Newton, where he died at 4:30 the next morning.

Mr. Hiebert had been making his home with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hugo Hiebert, near Hillsboro.

Funeral services were conducted Monday at the First Mennonite Church here, with Rev. P. W. Goering of Lehigh in charge.
