Birth date: 1951

text of obituary:

. . .

— A traffic accident at 13th and North Main in Newton last Saturday night claimed the life of Melvina Sue Brown, 20, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Brown of Ness City, Kan. It was the first traffic fatality within the city limits in nearly a year and a half. Miss Brown was living here and was employed part time at Tip Top Dairy Stop and also as a nurse's aid at the Bethel Home for Aged. She was driving south on Main Street and because of the slippery pavement was unable to stop in time to avoid hitting a car driven by Walter E. Koehn, who was making a left turn. She was thrown partly out of the car, and was dead on arrival at Axtell Christian Hospital. Mr. Koehn was not injured. Miss Brown was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Ness City.
