JOHN WIENS


John Wiens of Langley, B.C. died May 3. He was born to Jacob and Katherina Wiens Sept. 7, 1933 in Fabiker- wiese, South Russia. He lost his father to the Russian army when he was 4 and lost his mother when he was 8. Friends cared for him and his younger brother until 194 3 when they fled to Poland. His maternal grandmother took them to Germany. After the war, his uncle Pe- ter Wiens located them through the Red Cross and brought them to Canada . They became part of the family. He received Christ as a teen and was baptized, joining East Aldergrove (B.C.) MB Church. He married Helen Klassen Nov. 1, 1956. They moved in Langley, B.C. in the mid-1960s and became part of the Brookswood (now South Langley) MB Church plant. He was a caring, giving father, spending many hours studying God's Word and praying. He loved the church and was involved in vari- ous ministries. He is mourned by Helen; sons Gerald, Les and Rob; daughter Kathy Grainger; 12 grandchildren; 2 sisters; 2 brothers. The fu- neral was May 8 in South Langley MB Church with Wes Dahl and Lorraine Dick ministering.
