Funeral services for C. C. Penner, 77, were held recently in the Reedley M.B. Church. He died in a local hospital after a short illness. He was a native of Nebraska and was the first principal of the Immanuel Academy in Reedley. He leaves his widow, Mary Louise, three sons, three daughters, and 12 grandchildren.

CORNELIUS C. PENNER
Funeral services were held or May 8, 1970, in the Reedley, Calif. Mennonite Brethren Church for Cornelius C. Penner, 77, who died on May 5 in the Sierra Kings Hospital, Reedley, following a short illness.
Mr. Penner was born in Henderson, Neb. on March 21, 1893, and was raised at Lehigh, Kan. At the age of 15 he confessed Christ as his Savior and was baptized into the Springfield K. M. B. Church.
He was a graduate of Tabor College in Hillsboro, and attended the University of Southern California and the University of California at Berkeley for graduate study, his interests being education, history and political science. His life was dedicated to teaching both in public schools and in the churches to which he belonged. He was a devout man who loved God and had a passion for Christian service. For a number of years he taught public school, first in Kansas and later in various places in California. He was a leader in establishing the Immanuel Academy and for a number of years was an active member of the board.
Mr. Penner was a member of the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church and acted as a delegate to various conferences of the church in this country, Canada and abroad. He was also an active member of the Gideon organization.
He was married to Tina N. Martens in 1923 and to this union were born three sons and three daughters. His first wife died in 1963, and he married the former Mary Louise Goering in 1966.
Those who have pre-deceased him are his wife, Tina, and three sisters. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary Louise Penner of Reedley; six children; William C. of Fresno, Calif., Robert C. of San Pablo, Calif., Dan C. of Dixon, Calif., Miss Marian of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Alice Isaac of Kingsburg, Calif, and Mrs. Barbara Langhofer, Fresno, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; two brothers and six sisters, P. C. and Jacob Penner of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. P. F. Wall of Reedley, Mrs. G. W. Lohrenz of Hillsboro, Kan., Mrs. Abe Sperling of Shafter, Calif., Mrs. Chris Mosiman of Newton, Kan., Mrs. Harry Anderson and Miss Rosella Penner of Los Angeles, Calif.
