• Funeral services for John Roupp, 81, retired farmer and carpenter of Hesston, were held Saturday afternoon at the Whitestone Mennonite Church with Rev. Earl Buckwalter and Rev. Allen Erb officiating. Mr. Roupp died Feb. 18 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital after a brief illness. Survivors include his wife, Lillie, of the home; sons Willard and Milford of Hesston and Delbert of Denver, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Paul Yutzy of rural Hutchinson and Mrs. Adolf Guhr of rural Newton; and 15 grandchildren.

JOHN ROUPP
John Roupp, son of George and Anna Roupp, was born on Dec. 9, 1888 at Freeman, S. D. and died Feb. 18. 1970, age 81 years, two months and nine days, following a short illness due to complications.
With the exception of a few childhood years in Arkansas, his life was spent in the Moundridge and Hesston area as a farmer, interspersed with carpentry and masonry work. He retired from active farming about 14 years ago.
On April 21, 1918, he married Lillie Balmer of Harper, Kan. She survives him with three sons and two daughters, Willard and Milford of Hesston, Delbert of Denver, Colo., Ruth, Mrs. Paul Yutzy, of Rt. 1, Hutchinson, and Elda, Mrs. Adolf Guhr, Rt. 4, Newton; and 15 grandchildren.
On March 4, 1906 he was in the baptismal class of 45 youths and adults of the Pennsylvania Mennonite Church who were baptized by Bishop T. M. Erb. The church is now known as Whitestone Mennonite Church.
John cultivated an active interest in the Lord’s work, serving as Sunday school teacher, church trustee, sexton of the adjoining cemetery, and related activities. For many years he was on the rural school board, and served as the local representative of Mennonite Mutual Aid and the Hilfsplan.
Funeral services were conducted at the Whitestone Mennonite Church, Hesston, on Feb. 21, 1970, [sic ???] the Pennsylvania Cemetery, Hesston, in charge of Sanford Hartzler.
