• Funeral services for Mrs. John (Mary) Bestvater, 83, were held Saturday forenoon at the First Mennonite Church, with Rev. Arnold Epp officiating. Mrs. Bestvater died unexpectedly Tuesday evening at the home north of Newton. The former Mary Brucks, she was a native of Butler County and had been a member of the First Church here since her baptism in 1902. Survivors include her husband of the home; two daughters, Mrs. Joe Phipps of Sublette and Mrs. Art Fenton of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and two sisters.
