PETER J. REIMER

Peter John Reimer of Killarney, Man. passed away Mar. 5 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born Oct. 8, 1922 to Johann and Katharina Reimer in Blumenort, Siberia. In 1926 the family immi - grated to Boissevain, Man. He farmed with his father until 1956, when he bought his own farm. He contin- ued to farm for another 23 years. He became adept in repairing and rebuilding vehicles and machines, completely restoring 2 John Deere tractors, and taught himself electrical wiring, plumbing and welding. He worked as a me- chanic at Southem Mo- tors in Boissevain and John Deere Farm Equip- ment in Killarney, Man. In 1981 he began his own small engine repair business. He accepted Christ as a young man, was baptized and joined Boissevain MB Church, later transfer- ring to Killarney MB Church. He was an ush - er and served on church committe es. He read his Bible faithfully ea ch morning, re ading it through several times . He married Kay Duerk- sen of Killarney Nov. 3, 1979. They enjoyed snowmobiling, bowl- ing, golfing and travel to Europe, Hawaii, Mex- ico and Alaska. In retire- ment, th ey wintered in Texas for 9 years, mak- ing many friend s here. He was a kind, gentle, quiet person who loved children and "adopted" the grandchildren of others . Predeceased by 2 brothers and a sister, he is mourned by Kay; 1 brother and 3 sisters. The funeral was Mar. 9 in Lakeview Communi- ty Church, Killarney, with Dan Stobbe and John Duerksen Jr. minis- tering.
