SELMA NEUFELD

Selma Neufeld of Sur- rey, B.C. passed away Dec. 17 after a very brief illness. She was born Dec. 16, 1907 to Wilhelm and Margareta Neufeld in Main Centre, Sask . As the youngest daughter, she helped with the work on the farm, milking cows, rid- ing horses and driving farm vehicles. She ac- cepted Christ at an ear- ly age, was baptized and joined Main Centre MB Church . She con- tributed to family times of worship with her strong alto vo ice, a pro- ficiency at the piano and later her talent on the violin. She loved sa- cred music and was in- volved in church choirs, orchestras and small en- sembles most of her life. In 1942 the family moved to Vancouver. She joined Vancouver MB Church and later Fraserview MB Church, singing in choirs for over 60 years and play- ing in church musical groups. She performed regularly in the string section of the Vancou- ver Philharmonic Or- chestra. After high school, she completed secretarial training in Saskatoon. She was of- fice administrator at her brother Bill's medical practice in Saskatoon, Vancouv er an d then Burnaby, B.C., re t iring in 1989. In 1997 she moved to Surr ey to be nearer to her brother. She paid sp eci al atten- tion to her ni eces and nephews, se nding them gifts on special occa si ons, talkin g about the Rapture, sin ging, giving them updates on other family members and sharing home- baked treats . Prede- ceased by her 5 sibling s, a niece and a nephew, she is mourn ed by 4 nephews and 3 niece s. The funeral wa s held in Surrey, B.C., with Dan Unrau ministering.
