Funeral services for Leo M. Burkett, 71, of Hesston were held Thursday afternoon, March 23, at the Hesston Mennonite Church. Rev. Peter Wiebe, the pastor, officiated. Mr. Burkett died March 20 at Bethel Deaconess Hospital. He was a native of Kansas City, Kan. and lived there until moving to Hesston in 1959. he was formerly employed at Hesston Corp., retiring in 1965. Surviving are his widow, the former Dorothy Troyer; two sons, James and David, both of Newton; one daughter, Mrs. James (Mary) Friesen of Edmond, Okla.; three grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Gladys Carr of Tillamook, Ore.

LEO M. BURKETT

Leo M. Burkett, 71, of Hesston, died Monday at Bethel Deaconess Hospital.

He was born May 9, 1900 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fremont Burkett.

He married Dorothy Troyer at Inman October 19, 1940.

They lived in Kansas City until moving to Hesston in 1959.

Mr. Burkett formerly was employed with Hesston Corp. and retired in 1965.

In addition to his widow, survivors include two sons, James and David of Newton; one daughter, Mrs. James (Mary) Friesen of Edmund, Okla.; one sister, Mrs. Gladys Carr of Tillamook, Ore.; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held at 1:30 p. m. Thursday (Mar. 23) at the Hesston Mennonite Church. Rev. Peter Wiebe will officiate and burial will be in West Liberty Cemetery near Inman.

Miller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established for the Heart Fund. Contributions may be left at the Miller Funeral Home, Goessel.
