JOHN NEUFELD

John Neufeld of Vancouver went to be with the Lord on February 21 and a memorial service preceding burial was conducted February 23 at the Fraserview Church by pastor Loyal Funk. John Neufeld was born to John and Elizabeth Neufeld in Hamburg, Molotschna colony in southern Russia on September 17,1910. He came to Herbert, Sask., in 1930 and here he heard the word of salvation and accepted the Lord as his Saviour at the age of 22. In August, 1936 he was baptized and received into the Herbert Mennonite Brethren Church. On June 25, 1939 he was married to Martha Cornelson. They moved to Vancouver in 1941 and joined the Vancouver MB Church at 43rd Ave. and Prince Edward St. He was ordained a deacon of the 43rd St. Church and continued to serve faithfully in this capacity when he joined the Fraserview Church as a charter member in 1954. In 1975 the church honored him as deacon emeritus. He happily and willingly served the Lord at every opportunity. After surgery in July, 1979 and a number of months of failing health, he went to be with the Lord on February 21. He is survived by wife Martha; and one daughter Ruth, and husband Al.
