JACOB NICKOLAI REMPEL

Jacob Nickolai Rempel of Killarney, Man. passed away on January 26. He was born to Nickolai and Anna (Klassen) Rempel on November 21,1889 in Russia. In 1916 he was drafted into the army and served in a medical unit. During the revolution he escaped to Turkey by ship, and from there to Danzig, Germany, and finally Canada. In Borden, Sask. he accepted Christ as his Saviour, and was baptized and joined the church on August 16, 1925. He later moved to Winkler, Man. where he married Maria Enns on September 21, 1925. After several years in the Winkler area the couple moved to the Holmfield district. They were ordained to the diaconate in June 1952. Finally they retired to Killarney. He is survived by his wife Maria; two daughters: Margaret and John Tschetter and Anna and Jake Penner; five grandchildren, one brother and one sister. The funeral was held January 30 in the Lakeview MB Church, Killarney, with pastor Ernie Bergen in charge.
