PETER J. NEUFELD

Peter J. Neufeld of Laird, Sask. passed away on ,January 6. He was born on July 24. 1899 to Anna (Toews) and John Neufeld in Russia. He spent some time in military service during the revolution. In 1925 he emigrated to Canada with his mother, sister Lena, and his two adopted children, Frieda and Henry. They eventually established their home north of Laird, where he had resided since. He was baptized and accepted into the Mennonite Brethren Church on July 6,1930. He was known for his gardening and raising various fowl. After his children had left home he opened it to others. He is survived by his son-in-law Gus Bohnke of Alberta, daughterin-law Sally Mayor of Florida, four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, sister (Mrs.) Anna Isaak of Rosthern, Sask. and sister-in-law (Mrs.) Jacob Friesen of Clearbrook, B.C. A memorial service was held in the Waldheim MB Church on January 10.
