KATHARINA BERGMANN

(Mrs.) Katharina Bergmann of Steinbach. Man. passed away on January 11. She was born on May 7, 1887 to Gerhard and Sarah Wiens in southern Russia. She grew up in Steinbach, Molotschna, where she received the Lord, was baptized, and joined the Allianz Church. In 1912 she married Abram P. Bergmann. They emigrated to Canada with seven children in 1925 and farmed in the Steinbach area. They helped organize the Steinbach MB Church, and in 1949 retired to Steinbach. Her husband passed away in 1971. She is survived by four sons and their wives: Peter and Anne, Henry and Helen, George and Esther, Abe and Margaret. all of Steinbach; five daughters: Mary, Helen, Sarah (Mrs. Jake) Giesbrecht, Betty (Mrs. John) Goertzen, also of Steinbach, and Anne (Mrs. George) Froese of Winnipeg. The funeral was held January 14 in the Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church with pastor Jake Falk officiating
