His parents died in 1907 during a typhoid epidemic, and all of his seven brothers and sisters have since died or been sent to Siberia. After technical education he served in the army briefly. Ten years later they moved to Mt. Lehman, B.C. He became actively involved in the ministry of the Clearbrook MB Church. He will be missed by his wife Sara; daughters Kay Johnson of Celista, B.C. and Erna Thiessen of Calgary; sons Henry of Aldergrove, Jake of Abbotsford and John of Penticton (all B.C.); 15 grandchildren and one great·grandson.
