Mrs. Elizabeth Bergen, 91, who was one of the oldest citizens of Altona, Man. when she passed away on Aug. 3, was the first Mennonite female private school teacher of Rosthern, Sask. She and her husband, Gerhard Bergen, who died in 1931, were the first couple married at Rosthern and the first Mennonite couple to file a homestead near Hague, Sask. They were members of the Altona Bergthaler Mennonite Church.
