• Jacob E. Ediger, 76, of Inman died Friday morning at Bethel Deaconess Hospital where he had been a patient for several months. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Hoffnungsau Church, with Rev. T. A. van der Smissen, the interim pastor, officiating. Mr. Ediger leaves one daughter, Mildred, a teacher in the Newton public schools, and two sons, Eldo of Inman and Marlow of Kirksville, Mo.

JACOB E. EDIGER

Jacob E. Ediger, son of Henry E. and Helena Janzen Ediger, was born Jan. 30, 1890 and passed away Aug. 5, 1966.

He spent his earliest years on a farm three-fourths of a mile south of Hoffnungsau Church, Inman, Kan. At the age of two, his parents moved to a farm four miles west of Inman. Seven years later the family moved to a different farm six miles east and three-fourths south of Inman. He lived on the same farm until retirement in the fall of 1960.

Father received his schooling at Turkey Creek and the Hoffnungsau Preparatory School.

On March 29, 1910 upon his confession of faith, he was baptized by Rev. Abraham Ratzlaff and received as a member of Hoffnungsau Mennonite Church. He remained a faithful member until death.

Father was married to Maria G. Regier April 11, 1920. To this union were born three children. Father and mother were permitted to share joys and sorrows until April 24, 1961 when mother passed on to her reward. Mother had a severe stroke in 1939 when left her largely paralyzed until her death.

Father became ill during the latter part of April, 1966. He was taken to Bethel Hospital, Newton, for observation. It was revealed that he had a tumorous growth in the stomach. He never recovered from the operation performed June 7. He departed this life August 5, 1966.

Mourning his departure are his children Eldo and wife Letha of Inman, Mildred of Newton, and Marlow and wife Mary of Kirksville, Mo.; six grandchildren; a brother, P. H. Ediger and wife; two sisters, Mrs. D. P. Goertz and Mrs. J. P. Flaming and their husbands; two brothers-in-law and thee sisters-in-law.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. H. P. Nachtigal, and one brother, H. H. Ediger.
