GERTRUDE BAERG

Gertrude Baerg of Tabor Horne, St. Catharines passed away Oct. 28. She was born May 10, 1905 in Hierschau, southern Russia. In her teens her beloved grandmother and parents died. This was followed by a wave of violence in the Russian Revolution, and then by a wave of spiritual revival. She responded to the invitation to follow Christ. She immigrated to Alberta and married Aron Baerg. They established a strong Christian home on the prairies, living in Namaka, Crowfoot and Aron died in 1987. During the Depression and the hardships of farming, she manifested a strong faith, firm convict ions, a buoyant spirit, a love for music and a sense of humour. She loved the Lord and the MB conference, its churches, mission program and schools. Her memory is honoured by her children Arnold of Waterloo, Ont., Rudy of Abbotsford, B.C., Betty Fast of Langley, B.C., Bill of Wimlipeg and Magdclene Dyck of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren ; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters and 1 brother.
