• Dr. and Mrs. Ronald Rich and family received word Monday of the unexpected death of Dr. Rich's father, Rufus J. Rich of Washington, Ill., due to a heart attack. Mr. Rich, who was 67,was a prominent farmer and active in promoting inter-Mennonite projects in the Central Illinois area, including the Illinois Relief Auction and the Congerville MCC Center. Surviving in addition to his widow and the son here are two daughters, Mrs. Leonard Smucker of Elkhart, Ind. and Mrs. Glenn Blosser of Bluffton, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Dr. Lillian Rich of Asheville, N. C.

Well-Known Washington Ill. Farmer Dies

Washington, Ill. — Funeral services for Rufus J. Rich, 67, prominent farmer here who was active in inter-Mennonite projects, were held Aug 11 at the Calvary Mennonite Church. He died Aug. 8 en route to the hospital after suffering a heart attack.

Mr. Rich was one of the founders of the Illinois Relief Auction and helped establish the relief center at Congerville. He formerly served on the board of directors of Bluffton College (Ohio). His son, Dr. Ronald Rich, is a professor of chemistry at Bethel College in Kansas.
