KATIE KLASSEN

Katie (Tina) Klassen (nee Reimer) of Coaldale, Alta. passed away Nov. 10. She was born Aug. 31, 1894 in Suvorovka, North Caucasus, Russia. In 1925 she immigrated to Canada with 3 siblings. In 1927 her son Henry also came. She worked as a homemaker on farms in Alberta and B.C In 1943, in Vauxhall, Alta., she married Henry Klassen, who had 8 children. They moved to Coaldale, where she lived the rest of her life. Until age 95, she spent many hours knitting and quilting, donating hundreds of projects to MCC She expressed her love for nature through oil paintings. Her grandchildren remember her for Easter egg hunts and her famous chicken noodle soup. She lived her life with a strong faith and a gentle manner, was optimistic, hospitable, nonjudgmental, kind, generous, thoughtful and caring. She devoted her life to family, friends and God. She was a contented resident of Sunny South Lodge and Coaldale Health Care Centre. Predeceased by Henry in 1979, she is mourned by children Henry Reimer, Ann Epp, Mary Dyck and Bill; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and 1 brother. The memorial service was held Nov. 15 in Coaldale MB Church, with Rudy Heidebrecht, Lorne Willms and Gerhard Reimer ministering.
