Mother and Infant Son Fatally Injured On Ohio Highway

Sugarcreek, Ohio, — A speeding auto crashed into the ear [sic] of an Amish buggy carrying six members of a rural Baltic family Friday night, July 8, fatally injuring the mother and her four-month-old son.

Mrs. John A. N. Troyer, 31, was dead on arrival at Union Hospital in Dover. Little Lyle Troyer died several hours later in a Canton hospital.

The husband and father and two other sons, five and two years of age, were treated at the hospital for their injuries, and another son and a daughter did not require hospital treatment.

Investigating officers said the car which hit the buggy was traveling at a high rate of speed, and the buggy was demolished. The family was nearing their home after a trip to Sugarcreek.
