• A head-on collision of two autos south of McPherson on Highway K-61 the evening of July 4 resulted in fatal injuries to one of the two drivers, both of whom were traveling alone. Herman Nightingale, 51, of McPherson died Sunday in McPherson County Hospital. Margaret Marston, 21, of Hutchinson was seriously hurt but is recovering.
