MARIE THIESSEN

Marie Thiessen of Simcoe, Ont. passed away on September 6. She was born on May 3, 1912 to Abraham and Marie Thiessen in Gnadenheim, southern Russia. In 1926 the family left Russia and spent several months in New Hamburg, Ont. before settling on a farm in Port Rowan, Ont. On July 2, 1933 she was baptized and joined the Port Rowan MB Church, where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. Later she attended Winkler (Man.) Bible Institute. After moving to Simcoe, she joined the First Baptist Church in September 1955. She will be missed by three brothers: Isaac, Abram and Peter, all of Port Rowan; one sister, (Mrs.) Anna Linde of Hamilton, Ont.; and many nieces and nephews.
