HENRY JOHN TOEWS

Henry J . Toews of Clovis, Calif., passed away on July 22. He was born on October 30, 1900 in southern Russia. In 1910 his family moved to Siberia, where Henry received his education. In 1920 he received the Lord Jesus as his personal Saviour. He was mar ried to Elizabeth J . Friesen on January 6, 1922, and they had four children. With the growing oppression of the Russian Revolu tion, the family was able to flee into China in 1928, moving to the U.S. eighteen months later. They settled first in Reedley, then in Planada, Calif., where Henry worked in fig farming. His wife passed away in 1963. That same year he married Margaret Peters. The couple retired several years later to Clovis. He leaves to mourn his living wife Margaret; one daughter Betty (Mrs. Robert Bradford) of Oxnard, Calif.; two sons: Johnny and wife Harriet, and Erwin and wife Darlene, all of Dinuba, Calif.; 12 grand children; 3 great-grandchildren; two brothers and two sisters. Funeral services were held in the Reedley Mennonite Brethren Church, with Henry H. Dick and Barney Vogt offi ciating.
