Accidents Fatal To Three

TRUCK DRIVER, TWO LITTLE BOYS KILLED IN SEPARATE MISHAPS

Smoketown, Pa. — Three separate accidents in Mennonite communities of Lancaster County recently claimed the lives of two little boys and a 60-year-old truck driver.

Tommy Hostetler, two-year-old son of Harry J. and Lois Landis Hostetler, was instantly killed when run over by a pick-up truck at their home, Cochranville. Besides the parents, he is survived by a brother Richard, 6, and the grandparents, Harry J. Hostetler of Gap and J. Ellis Landis of Smoketown. Funeral services were held at the Old Road Mennonite church near White House.

A speeding car being chased by police crashed into a pick-up truck and almost instantly killed the truck driver, Chester Snavely, 60, of Landisville and seriously injured Martin Frey, 36, of Mt. Joy. Both were employed by a nursery, and Mr. Snavely was also sexton at the Landisville Mennonite church, where the funeral services were held. He leaves his wife, the former Mary Musser, and four sisters.

Twenty-two month old Steven Ray Hess, son of Paul and Susan Shreiner Hess, died of suffocation when he fell down a chute Monday morning, June 19. He plunged head first into a bin of chopped corn and apparently died within a few minutes. He leaves his parents, two brothers and one sister, and the grandmothers, Mrs. Harry Shreiner and Mrs. Anna B. Hess, both of Lititz. Funeral services were held at the Mount Joy Mennonite church.
