EVA SIEMENS

Eva Siemens passed away May 8 in Clearbrook, B.C . She was born Feb. 6, 1907 to Peter P. and Eva Wiens. Her brothers were younger, so she often helped her father in the fields. She and her parents were baptized on the same day and accepted into the MB church in Kleefeld, southern Russia. The family immigrated to Morden, Man. in 1925, later purchased a farm near Winnipeg, moved to Coaldale, Alta. in 1930 and then bought a farm in the Readymade, Alta. district. She married John Siemens Feb. 22, 1931. Eva's father had died four weeks earlier. They moved to Gem, Alta., where John and his father had a farm. Eight months later, they moved in with Eva's family in Coaldale. In 1938 they rented a farm in Namaka, Alta. Due to illness, they moved to Abbotsford, B.C. in 1944, purchasing a 10- acre farm where they raised chickens and berries. Eva was an avid seam stress; her handiwork remains in the homes of many of her family and friends. The family moved to Vancouver, where they lived for 35 years. For the last two years Eva and John lived in Clearbrook, B.C. She is mourned by her husband, son Alfred , daughter Mary and 5 grandchildren. The funeral was May 13 in Bakerview MB Church, Clearbrook, with Harry Heidebrecht and William Schmidt ministering.
