HELENA NEUFELD

Helena Neufeld of Kelowna, B.C. passed away May 25. She was born Feb. 6, 1908 to Jacob and Helena Siemens. She married Peter Arens, Aug. 18, 1930 in Herbert, Sask., a union blessed with 2 children, James Richard and Wella Audrey. Peter died in 1939. On Aug. 4, 1940, she married Isaac Neufeld, a widower with 5 children. Two more children were born. She was baptized Sept. 12, 1943 in Herbert. In fall, 1945 they moved to Clearbrook, B.C. She worked very hard. She worked in various stores and in Aylmer's cannery and picked berries and hops. She cared for Isaac in his last years. Son Garry built a suite for them. Isaac died in 1989. She then moved to Kelowna, to be near her son and sister. Predeceased by 2 sisters, she is mourned by her children Jacob Ballard of Saskatchewan, Victoria Hiebert of Burnaby, B.C., Anne Landsbury of Saskatchewan, Leona Gutwin of Vermont, Margaret Ballard of Burnaby, B.C ., Joan Block of Abbotsford, B.C., Jim Arens of Abbotsford, Wella Kagl e of Washington and Garry Neufeld of Kelowna; 3 sisters and many grandchildren.
