CORNELIUS GIESBRECHT

Cornelius Giesbrecht of Foam Lake, Sask. passed away May 20. He was born July 9, 1914 to Abraham and Helen Giesbrecht in Seventy-five, Siberia, Russia. The family immigrated to Herbert, Sask. in 1926. In 1938 they bought a farm near Foam Lake. Corney accepted Jesus at an evangelistic meeting in Bertdale Hall. He was baptized in 1939. He married Lena Krause May 18. 1941. They farmed near Foam Lake until 1977, when they moved to town. His faith was central to his life and family. He helped build Foam Lake MB (now Gospel Fellowship) Church. He was active in church work until the end. He was friendly and helpful, never complained and lived life to the fullest. He often spoke of the wonderful hope of someday seeing his Saviour face to face. Predeceased by 1 sister and 2 brothers, he is mourned by his wife; children Edwin of Sault Ste Marie, Ont., Agnes Diekert of Vancouver, Anne Cooper of Foam Lake, Hank of Calgary, Erma Neuman of New Norway, Alta., Alvin of Lanigan, Sask., Joy Batten of Calgary and Jerry of Sherwood Park, Alta.; 21 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 2 sisters. The funeral was May 22, with Art Isaac ministering.
