PETER ABRAHAM DYCK
Peter Abraham Dyck of Virgil, Ont. was called home on March 18. He was born to Abraham and Katharina (nee Janzen) Dueck on July 7, 1895 in Memrick, southern Russia. When he was five , his father died, leaving his mother to raise the four children. He attended elementary school in Karpowka, and second· ary school in Gnadenfeld. On April 28, 1919 he was married to Katharina Mathies of Schoenfeld. After several years of separation, danger and sickness, the couple emigrated to Canada in August 1924 with their two daughters. Their first home was in Stein bach. After working for different Manitoba farmers, they moved to New Hamburg, Onto in 1928. There they made a new spiritual beginning. They were baptized in 1929 and joined the Menno nite Brethren Church. He served as Sunday school teacher for 45 years, and for some years as Virgil cor respondent for the Rundschau. In New Hamburg he work ed in a brass fac tory for 14 years. In 1942 they pur chased a farm in Virgil. There he farmed and also did carpentry for Shepherd Boats till 1964. The funeral service was held March 20 in the Virgil MB Church, with pastor Abe Quiring officiating. He is survived by his wife, Katharina; two sons, Walter and his wife Minnie, Niagara Falls, Ont., Rudy and his wife Mary of Virgil; three daughters, Mrs. William (Anna ) Toews of Waterloo, Ont., Katherine of Vine land, Onto and Mrs. John (Magdalene) Janzen of Grimsby, Ont.; and by 13 grand children and three great-grandchildren.
