MRS. MARIA SIEMENS

(Mrs.) Maria Siemens of Clearbrook, B.C. went to her heavenly reward on January 21. She was born July 22, 1901 in Deewka, Russia, one of 15 children born to Abram and Suzanna Wolfe. She learned to love the Lord at an early age and was baptized at age 17 in the Mennonite Church in Kamenka. In 1919 she was united in marriage to Wilhelm J. Siemens, and in 1926 the couple emigrated to Canada, together with their three sons. They settled in southern Saskatchewan, where a daughter was added to the family. In 1941 they moved to Vancouver, and a few years later to Clearbrook, where their second son Abe died. Her health began to deteriorate about this time, and she required constant care from her husband. Though her health suffered, her faith did not, and she eagerly anticipated the day when she would see "my Jesus" as he is.

She is fondly remembered by her two sons, Jack and Wally, and by her daughter Lydia, as a loving, wise and God-fearing mother, and by her husband Bill as a warm and loyal companion whose frequent expressions of "Pa, I love you" will always be a comfort. She is survived by 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. The funeral was held at the Clearbrook Mennonite Brethren Church, with pastor John Baerg officiating. The family wishes to thank friends and relatives for their expressions of sympathy, and also the nurses and staff of Menno Hospital for the excellent care shown to their mother.
