JACOB FRIESEN

Jacob Friesen of Abbotsford, B.C. passed away May 10. He was born Sept. 15, 1908 to Peter and Helena Friesen in Davlekanovo, Ufa, Russia. In 1926 the family fled to Canada. After a brief time in Winnipeg, they moved to Winkler, where his father died. Some years later he moved to Alberta, where he farmed in Vauxhall, Coaldale and then Cardston. He loved children and, because he had none of his own, loved to romp with his nieces and nephews. On Oct. 17,1973 he married Mary Wiebe of Leamington, Ont. They settled in Abbotsford to enjoy retirement, travelling and enjoying visits with friends and relatives. Mary passed away of cancer Jan. 29, 1990. He is mourned by his sisters Mary and Annie Goertzen of Clearbrook, B.C. and Margaret Dueck of Coaldale, and many nieces and nephews. The funeral was in Clearbrook MB Church, with John Klassen ministering.
