EUGENIA FOWLER QUIRING

Eugenia Fowler Quiring of Fresno, CA passed away Apr. 27. She was born Feb. 24, 1922 in Hartford, CT. She came to know the Lord in her late teens and joined the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church in West Hartford. She earned a bachelor's degree from Yale University School of Music in 1943, then taught music and Christian education in New York and Florida. In 1947 she went to Pacitic Bible Institute (now Fresno Pacific College) to teach piano and study. She married Wilmer Quiring July 23, 1949. They studied at Fresno and Hartford Seminary. They worked in administration and teaching in a Colombia primary school under MBMIS 1952-56. John completed his master's degree in Connecticut, then taught a year at Mexico Bible Institute. They worked in a church leadership training program in Colombia 1959-64. They then lived in West Hartford, where she worked for West Hartford Public Schools and the Connecticut Dairy and Food Council. She served as pianist, organist and teacher in church. In 1974 they moved to Fresno, where she was active in North Fresno MB Church. They were interim pastor couple of Dinuba (CA) Calvario MB Church. She was also employed by Fresno Church of the Brethren until 1986. After retirement, she taught a women's Bible study. In 1986 they joined West Park Community Church, where they faithfully ministered. Despite failing health over many years, she retained a cheerful, uncomplaining spirit, bringing love and joy to others. She is mourned by her husband; children Naomi Mizumoto, Phebe Wahl, Lois Ewert and John; and 5 grandchildren. The funeral was May 2 in North Fresno MB Church, with Hugo Zorilla ministering.
