WILLIAM SCHELLENBERG

William Schellenberg of Yarrow, B.C. passed away Apr. 12. He was born Oct. 13, 1901 to John and Elizabeth Schellenberg in Leonidovka, Ignatievo, Russia. When he was 5, the family moved to Steinfeld near Babenkow, where they farmed. His brother was conscripted, and he and his widowed mother went to Barrisow. In 1919 they lost everything to robbers and fled to Leonidovka. In 1919 he was baptized by elder Unruh of New York, Ignatievo. H e married Katie Klassen June 28, 1920. They came to Canada in 1927 and to Yarrow in 1931. He was active in community endeavours. Katie died June 30, 1977. He joined Yarrow MB Church Oct. 30, 1988. He is survived by his children Bill of Yarrow, Abe, Freda Martens, Hugo and Erna Klingspohn; 16 grandchildren and great-grandchildren ; and 1 brother. The funeral was Apr. 15 in Yarrow MB Church, with Ron Braun and Wilf Richert ministering.
