JACOB JOHN DICK

Jacob John Dick passed away Jan. 4. He was born Oct. 6, 1901 to John and Helene Dick in Gnadenheim, southern Russia. The family suffered much from war, anarchy and famine, but he retained a deep love for his home country, even though he was thankful for freedom when he reached Canada in 1925. He was baptized Aug. 6, 1927 by Jacob Wiens in Kitchener, Ont. He married Mary Elaskey in Montreal in 1937. Mary died in 1948. He and his sons moved to Pelee Island, then Leamington, Ont. He had a great concern that his family and everyone he met experience the joy of knowing Jesus. In joy and trouble he sought to give thanks to God for all things; he demonstrated this even in his last year of pain and suffering, and encouraged others. Predeceased by 4 brothers and 4 sisters, he is mourned by sons James and Kenneth; 11 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren and 1 sister. The funeral was Jan. 7 in Leamington MB Church, with John Nikkel and Henry H. Winter ministering.
