WERNER FRANK WIENS
Werner Frank Wiens of Port Rowan, Man. passed a way Jan. 2. He was born Nov. 29, 1930 to Frank and Helen Wiens in Watrous, Sask. He accepted the Lord in his early teens. In 1944 the family moved to a fruit farm in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ont. He was baptized, sang in the choir and enjoyed the youth group in Virgil MB Church. He attended Eden Christian College and Eden Bible School, where he met Kate Teigrob. They married in July, 1956 and moved to a small fruit farm. He worked at the General Motors plant in St. Catharines. In 1964 they moved to a dairy farm in Port Rowan. A few years later he began selling real estate. They joined Port Rowan MB Church, serving as youth leaders. He served on building committees, as Sunday school superintendent and as educational director. In 1987 they opened a real estate office in their home. In 1989 they moved the office to a new building in Port Rowan with an apartment above. In 1989 they transferred to Port Rowan Community Church, where he served as choir director. He was involved in various community endeavours. For 5 years he was the driving force behind a new family and seniors' complex, which opened Nov. 15. He is remembered for his love for life, enthusiasm and devotion to the Lord; his was a joyous, useful Christian life. He is mourned by his wife; son Laurence of Barrie, Ont.; daughters Sandra Dyck of Toronto and Julie Covey of Sardis, B.C.; 3 grandchildren; his parents; 5 sisters and 1 brother. The funeral was a combined service of Port Rowan MB Church and Port Rowan Community Church, with Peter Klassen and Rudy Bartel ministering.
