MENNO WILLEMS

Menno Willems of Waldheim, Sask. passed away Jan. 22. He was born Nov. 16, 1908 to Abram and Anna Willems in Waldheim, Sask. At age 17, he accepted Christ during meetings conducted by Frank Wiens in Hepburn, Sask. He was baptized and joined Hepburn MB Church. He was a member of the first class of Bethany Bible Institute. The school was always special to him, and he returned to work as a maintenance man in the winters of 1963 and 1964. He married Sarah Fadenrecht Oct. 21, 1932. They lived on a farm in Brotherfield, Sask. In 1946 they moved to B.C., where he worked in the city. They returned after 2 years, preferring to raise their family in a rural setting. They lived on a farm near Salem, Sask. He had Bible study and prayer with his family every morning and took them to church regularly. In 1976 they moved to Waldheim . Sarah died in February, 1986. He married Helen Dec. 27, 1988. He had cancer surgery in June, 1990. Predeceased by his first wife Sarah, 3 sisters, 2 brothers and 1 step grandson, he is mourned by his second wife Helen; children Irvin, Maurine, Lorne, Leonard, Harvey and Robert; stepdaughters Darlene Renwick and Pat Simmon; 16 grandchildren; 2 step grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren ; 5 sisters; 1 brother and 1 stepsister. The funeral was Jan. 27 in Waldheim MB Church, with Lawrence Redekop and Bob Vogt ministering.
