David Peter Warkentine of Waldheim, Sask. passed away Jan. 1. He was born June 15, 1904 to Peter and Judith Warkentine in Steinau, Russia. When he was 2, the family immigrated to Canada, living near Eigenheim, Sask. and then Silberfeld, Sask. He accepted Christ at 13. Four years later he was baptized and joined Waldheim MB Church. He married Miriam Dyck Oct. 29, 1933. He loved to sing and served in this way many years. He sang in a male quartet for 20 years and also served as an usher and trustee. When ill health did not allow this any more, he served in the ministry of prayer. Predeceased by 2 infant sons, 1 sister and 1 brother, he is mourned by his wife; daughters Edna Weinmaster and Carolyn Loewen; 3 granddaughters; 1 great granddaughter; 4 brothers and 3 sisters. The funeral was Jan. 5 in Waldheim MB Church, with Otto Derksen and Jake Willems ministering.
