PETER KASPER

Peter Kasper of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Dec. 29. He was born Feb. 15, 1903 to Peter and Maria Kasper in Wasiljewka, Charkow, Ukraine. He accepted the Lord in his youth and was later baptized and joined the MB Church in Russia. He married Lena Block July 14, 1929. In 1931 they immigrated to Paraguay. In 1938 they bought a farm in Lichtfelde, No. 1. They experienced deep sorrows and testings and struggled for their daily bread. Lena died unexpectedly Sept. 27, 1952. In 1959 he sold the farm and moved to Filadelphia, where he experienced loneliness and struggles. In 1968 he moved to Canada . He lived with daughter Hilde in Vancouver for 10 years, worked faithfully at any job he could find and joined Vancouver MB Church. He bought a house in Clearbrook to be near his other children and had much joy in tending his own garden. He joined King Road MB Church. Despite much disappointment, he rarely expressed unthankfulness, discontent or rebellion. He seldom spoke openly of his faith but showed it with his life. In 1984 he moved to Tabor Home in Clearbrook. Predeceased by his wife, eldest daughter Lena in 1932, daughter Lena Neufeld in 1989, 3 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren, he is mourned by his sons Peter, Hans, Helmut and Henry; daughters Hilde Siebert and Renate Sawatzky; 23 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
