CORNELIUS JANZ

Cornelius Janz of Saskatoon passed away Nov. 29. He was born Apr. 22, 1904 in Podol~ sk, Russia. In 1926 he immigrated to Saskatchewan with his wife Katherine and son John. A daughter Elizabeth was then born. He farmed at Colonsay, Sask . and Osage, Sask. Katherine died in 1931. Later he farmed at Fairholm, Sask., Mennon, Sask. and Dalmeny, Sask. He married Mary Baerg of Mennon Oct. 11, 1934, a union blessed with 3 more children. In 1936 he was baptized and joined the MB church at Dalmcny. For many years they managed Dalmeny Home for the Aged, then moved to Saskatoon. His love for cooking was evident in the bountiful meals he prepared for others. He had a great love for music and served the Lord in singing. Mary died in 1980. He married Nettie Baerg in July, 1981. She died in 1985. He lived in Central Haven Care Home for several years. He is mourned by his children John, Elizabeth Baerg, Samuel, Shirley Green and Lois Fields; 17 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. The funeral was Dec. 4 in Central MB Church, Saskatoon, with Arnold Fehderau and Rueben M. Baerg ministering.
