WALTER GOERZ

Walter Goerz of Kitchener, Ont. passed away Sept. 25 following a heart attack. He was born to Johann and Helena Goerz in Hierschau, southern Russia. The family immigrated to Canada in 1925, settling in Dalmeny, Sask., where his father was Bible school teacher and minister. In his late teens he came to personal faith in Jesus, was baptized and joined Dalmeny MB Church. In 1939 he moved to Ontario. Except for 3 years in the medical corps during World War II, he worked as a mechanical engineer in industry, designing many tools, fixtures and machines, some still in use today. He loved the Lord and served Kitchener MB Church as Christian Service Brigade leader and member of the finance committee and in other capacities. He expressed his appreciation for God's creation through oil painting, sketching and wildlife carving. His kind and quiet manner, patience in suffering and strong faith in God gave much strength and stability to his family. Predeceased by 2 brothers, he is survived by his wife Elvera (Bergen), whom he married in Kitchener in 1946; children Robert of Victoria, B.C. and Susan (Braun) and Greg of Kitchener; 2 brothers and 4 sisters. The funeral was Sept. 28 in Kitchener MB Church, with Bill Lehman ministering.
