MRS. ELIZABETH PETERS MARTENS

Bruce Duerksen was the fourth of fi children born to Menno and Frieda Duerks of Steinbach, Man. He was born on May 1 1960. He grew up in Steinbach and receive his elementary and secondary school educ tion there, graduating in June, 1978. Fro infancy he received the message of Jesu Christ, conveyed to him by his home an through his church. At the time of his dea he was employed as a carpenter. On Sunda morning, December 31 , God saw fit to take Bruce out of this life through a tragic house fire. He was 18. He is survived by his parents of Steinbach; his bro thers and sisters, Ray of Pickle Lake, Ont., Ken of Win nipeg, and Carol and Bev at home; his grandmother, (Mrs Anna Heier, as well as numerous relatives. joint funeral service was conducted togethe with the family of the late Abe Bergman who died in the same fire, on Thursday January 4, from the Steinbach Mennonit Brethren Church. Pastor Jake Falk an Corny Rempel were the ministers in charge The parents and family mourn the loss of son and brother, but submit to God's prov dence, as recorded in Psalm 119: 137: "Righ eous art thou, oh God, and upright are th judgments."
