JACOB A. NICKEL

Jacob A. Nikkel of Clearbrook, B.C. passed away Sept. 4. He was born Feb. 16, 1903 to Abram John and Katherine Nikkel in Bogomasov, Russia. At age 20 he accepted Christ, was baptized and joined the MB Church. Shortly thereafter, he married Agatha Buhler. They immigrated to Canada, settling in Alberta. After 4 years, they moved to Yarrow, B.C., where he attended winter Bible school. After 10 years in Yarrow and a short time in Greendale, B.C., they moved to Aldergrove, B.C. in 1942. In 1968 they retired to Clearbrook. Agatha died in 1983, and he moved to Tabor Home. He is remembered as someone who enjoyed teaching Sunday school, which he did in Yarrow, East Aldergrove and Clearbrook MB Churches. Predeceased by his wife and son Ervan in 1973, he is mourned by daughters Mary Schmidt of Winnipeg, Katie Tosey and Clara Martins of Clearbrook, Dorothy of Kitimat, B.C., Vicki Onysyk of Fort McMurray, Alta., Ruth Willms of Lethbridge, Alta., Rose Rempel of Winnipeg and Irene Redekopp of Abbotsford, B.C.; and sons Jim of Aldergrove, Jack of Prince George, B.C., Victor of Aldergrove, Art of Clearbrook and Kenneth of Aldergrove. The funeral was Sept. 11 in Clearbrook MB Church, with John Klassen ministering.
