NICHOLAS JOHN WIEBE

Nicholas John Wiebe of Clearbrook B.C. died November 1 at the age 60. He was born to Johann A. and Maria (nee Dick) Wiebe at Kurushan, Molotschna, Ukraine on August 20, 1918. In 1924 the family came to Canada and settled in Ontario. At the age of 18 he was baptized on confession of faith in Christ and joined the Leamington (Ont.) Mennonite Brethren Church. He married Katie Enns of Elm Creek, Man. on December 1,1945, The couple lived near St. Catharines, Ont., and God blessed the marriage with four children, one of whom died in infancy. During these years he farmed and also worked in factories. The family moved to Clearbrook in 1968, where he and his wife managed a hardware store. He joined the Central Heights Mennonite Brethren Church and enjoyed serving as an usher.

Funeral services were held in the Central Heights Mennonite Brethren Church on November 4, with pastors Rudy Boschman and Rey Nickel in charge.

His family and friends remember him as a cheerful, diligent worker. He leaves to mourn his wife Katie; his son, Edwin, of Victoria; two daughters, Doris of Kelowna, B.C. and Marilyn (Mrs. Keith Harder) of Calgary; two brothers; four sisters; as well as many other relatives and friends.
