CORNELIUS P. REMPEL

Cornelius P. Rempel of Randolph, Man. passed away peacefully on October 8, 1978. He was born on November 7, 1896 to Johann and Margaretha Rempel in Randolph. He attended the local private school and later also took some evening classes. During catechism classes in 1917, he accepted Christ as his personal Saviour and was baptized and received into the Chortitzer Mennonite Church. In 1930 he married Maria Wiebe. In addition to the four sons which were born to them, the couple took care of an orphan niece, Elizabeth. In 1943 Cornelius was rebaptized and received into the Steinbach Mennonite Brethren Church. He was active in school, community, and church work. The children remember their father as a man of industry and integrity. He took an active interest in the affairs of his children and grandchildren. He is survived by four sons and families, Cornelius and Martha, Tony and Elsie, Werner and Elda, John and Esther, as well as ten grandchildren, two brothers and one sister. The children believe the separation is not permanent, because they share with their father the conviction that ..Jesus lives and so shall I."
