SARA BAERG

Sara Baerg of Saskatoon passed away Sept. 18, of cancer. She was born Mar. 11, 1907 to John and Sara Buhler of Dalmeny, Sask. Here she graduated from grade 8 at Mountain Lake School. She was baptized and joined Dalmeny MB Church. She studied 2 years a t Herbert (Sask.) Bible School. On Aug. 16, 1928 she married Henry J. Baerg of Mennon, Sask. She worked in all aspects of farming and homemaking. They moved to Dalmeny, where a dairy operation was added. When Henry felt called to the ministry, she helped him prepare sermons and Bible study classes. She kept busy in ladies' groups, choirs and Sunday school. In 1963 they moved to Beechy, Sask., where he pastored the MB church. She made lifelong friends and was active in church and community. When they moved to Saskatoon, her characteristic courage and faith helped make the transition, and her warm, caring ways made her known as "Grandma Baerg" to neighbourhood children. After Henry died in 1985, she remained active in church. In 1988 she moved to West Portal Manor. She is remembered as one devoted to loving and serving her Lord who dealt with family and friends in a gentle, gracious manner. Predeceased by her husband and 3 grandsons, she is mourned by her children Mabel Ratzlaff of Dallas, OR, Ruth Schultz of Grande Prairie, Alta., Cliff of Dalmeny and Veleda Peters of Calgary; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers and 4 sisters. The funeral was Sept. 21 in Central MB Church, Saskatoon, with R.M. Baerg ministering.
