MARIA WILLMS

Maria Willms of Steinbach, Man. passed away Aug. 5. She was born May 3, 1904 in the U.S.S.R. In her youth, she saw her father murdered, and her mother died shortly afterwards from the trauma. This left an unforgettable impression on her. She accepted the Lord early in life and joined the church. She moved to Canada and worked for a time. She married widower Aron Willms Oct. 24, 1943, taking the responsibility of raising his younger children. One more daughter, Helen, was born. In June, 1955 Aron died. During this time she appreciated the ministry of Steinbach MB Church. In retirement, she moved to Cedarwood Apts., where she made many friends. Her greatest joy was her ability to support her church and missions with prayers and gifts. Her quiet, uncomplaining nature spoke to all with whom she came in contact. Predeceased by all her siblings except 1 sister and her son Aron, she is mourned by children Helen Funk, Susan of Winnipeg, Frieda Martens of Altona, Man. John of Moose Jaw, Sask., Frank of Saskatoon, Edna Voth of Seattle, WA and Betty Giesbrecht of Lethbridge, Alta.; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The funeral was Aug. 7 in Steinbach MB Church, with Cornie Rempel ministering.
