MELVIN JOHN BERG

Melvin John Berg of Gem, Alta. died Sept. 4 in a traffic accident. He was born Nov. 12, 1964 in Bassano, Alta. He attended elementary school in Gem and high school in Rosemary, Alta. He played trombone in the Gem school band and enjoyed singing in the church choir. In grade 12, he went on a school tour to Europe. He accepted the Lord June 4, 1970 and told how he read the Bible, prayed and was ready to die if God wished. He had many struggles and disappointments but never gave up and was always willing to help anyone in need. He married Tammy Duxbury June 4, 1988, and always tried to spend time with his family. He enjoyed life and had many plans for the farm he had just bought. He is mourned by his wife and son Richard of Brooks, Alta.; parents John and Luella Berg of Gem; sister Sandra Thompson of England; brothers Don of Gem and Norm of Bassano; and grandparents Henry and Agatha Berg of Coaldale, Alta. and Margaret Falk of Clearbrook, B.C. The funeral was Sept. 8 in Gem MB Church with Jake Doerksen and Larry Schmidt ministering.
