GEORGE WOELK

George Woelk was born on July 17, 1901 , in the village of Gerhardstal in South Russia , to David and Anna (nee Unger) Woelk. He passed away on May 26, 1978 following a short illness.

He emigrated to Canada with two of his siblings in 1923, and began farming in Beechy, Sask., the following year. He married Katherine Peters in 1935 and together they raised a family of four children. The family moved to B.C. in 1946, living in Rosedale. and Aldergrove and finally in Clearbrook.

He was baptized upon his faith in 1948 and accepted into membership in the East Aldergrove Mennonite Brethren Church. He stood firm in his faith and remained a faithful church member until the end.

He is mourned by his beloved wife of 43 years, Katherine; his daughu1r, Marion Grace (Mrs.John Ewert of Surrey, B.C.; three sons, Robert David, Lawrence George and Cornelius Jacob, all of Alberta; 15 grand children; three brothers and two sisters.
